Carter's Story
Carter John Ankeny, 6 years old, of Fountain Valley, California passed away on October 8, 2017 due to complications related to treatment for leukemia. He was a ball of light who lived life with passion, tenacity and immense love.
Even after he was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of four years, he continued to live life to its fullest enjoying baseball, football, Legos, dancing, music, Disneyland, games, school, playing with friends and family, and so much more. His contagious smile and spirit won the hearts of many and his attitude about life and ability to thrive in the face of cancer inspired all.
A #CarterStrong community was born who followed and supported Carter and his family during this journey. The kindness & generosity from this community along the way allowed a teaching opportunity to give back to others and “Hustle Kindness®” by pursuing and making kindness an active and intentional part of each day.
When he passed suddenly, it sent shockwaves throughout the community and all who knew him, loved him, and cared for him. Carter was a fighter, a leukemia warrior, who faced every battle and challenge head on and usually with a smile. He fought to the end and showed us what it truly meant to be #CarterStrong. We now carry on his legacy of strength, kindness & love by being #CarterStrongForever.
We always rally for the CHOC Adventure in the Park!
We always look forward to participating in the annual event to raise funds for CHOC Children’s Hospital! The fundraising efforts of the event make an immediate impact on families going through the most challenging time in their lives. CHOC provides the highest level of care not only to patients, but to the siblings, parents and extended family that make up their critical support teams.
The 2022 event took place on August 27 and we’re so thankful to have raised over $22,000 as a team!
